We often get inquiries relating to shipping times, shipping locations, shipping privacy and everything in between. So we’re here to clear the air and provide customers with a comprehensive explanation for our shipping process and conditions, as well as how the Canada Post shipment zones and delivery work.

Our System

Bud Lab exclusively uses Canada Post Pre-Approved Xpresspost packages. These packages ensure privacy for both us and the customer, and guarantees a speedy delivery time. If an order is placed and processed before 9am on any business day, that order is sent off on the same day (barring any unforeseen complications). If an order is placed after 9am on any business day, it is sent on the next business day. As the Pre-Approved Xpresspost packages come with their own tracking number, customers may receive an email with a tracking number that appears to not exist in the system. Don’t panic though, this simply means that the order has been packed but has not been scanned in at the Post Office yet. Packages are dropped off by 4:30pm PST at the latest on business days, so check back then.

Additionally, for both our customers security and our financial security, all orders over $300 are automatically upgraded to the Signature Required shipment option. This ensures that only the desired recipient gets their package.

The Canada Post Shipping Breakdown

Once a package is dropped off to be shipped, it is in the hands of Canada Post. While Xpresspost often advertises 2 day shipping, that is only between locations classified as Major Urban Centres. In reality, Xpresspost shipping can take anywhere between 1 to 8 business days for delivery. This all depends on where you live, as Canada Post divides delivery locations into Major Urban Centres, Non-Major Urban Centres, and Northern Regions and Remote Centres. To see a rough estimate of delivery times, consult this handy Canada Post tool and use V7Y 1K8 (an example code from Vancouver) as the “Sending From” postal code. Below we’ve included a shipment time estimation table directly from Canada Post. This will give you a better idea of shipment times.

Complications and Delays

Now with all that being said, there can still be complications and delays. A recent example is the flooding occurring in Ontario. This is causing major safety concerns for postal workers and they won’t deliver to areas they deem unsafe, leading to massive delays. During the Canada Post strike near the end of 2018, packages sometimes took up to 3x their suggested delivery times. Postal workers can sometimes forget to scan a package through, causing a delay in shipment times. Not all delays are caused by such large scale problems, sometimes it is a simple address input error. There are a myriad of accidental and natural causes for delays, and the best way to keep on top of them is to ensure all your information is correct when submitting an order and to keep an eye on the tracking number provided with your order.

If a package goes missing, please contact us and let us know so we can help. Occasionally, packages can seem “stalled” in a processing centre. In our experience, it is just an unforeseen delay that works itself out. Please be patient and keep an eye on your tracking number!
